2019 Goals

Every year I participate in One Little Word (OLW) and recently it’s required more thinking in order to pick just a single word. This year I had it pared down to the following: clear, plan, refocus, pause.

I wanted something that represents my wish to simplify things and really just strip away all the things I was holding onto that didn’t necessarily maximize my potential to do what I really wanted to do and was taking time away from me realizing some of my goals.

And then I was browsing quotes online, and found this (via Google Search):

And I thought that this fits where I am for 2019. Plans last year wavered and changed and I rolled with it. Goals were put on hold or completely put aside in order to accommodate other things that seemed like priorities and I was okay… for the record, I’m usually not really good with change but I think I’m mellowing out and getting better with it and like to think that I did well in 2018!!

But this year is all about taking time to refocus on what really matters and what I really want to do. Now what that all means, I’m still figuring out. But starting next week I’m definitely busier (hello, job #4 and hello full-time grad school!) so I think I will figure out what really takes top priority as well as what I really do and do not (and will and will not!) want to make time for.

But in short, it means less design team work and more time to catch up on my scrapbooking and build my business classes and kits. Less shopping/spending money and more savings. Less stuff and more travel/experiences.

Refocusing on staying on track both with planning and finances. Refocusing on family and friends. Refocusing myself on schoolwork (refocusing my kids on schoolwork too!). Refocusing on my husband and my marriage (no date night in…. 5-ish months = sad). Refocusing on myself and my spirituality.

Goals for 2019

2018 was a wonderful growth year for business and I intend to keep up with demand for classes and kits (and expanding to bring in new/more product!). 2018 was also a wonderful year for downtime and family and I definitely want to prioritize that more too.

Crafty Goals:

  • color 1-2 images a week. I am sorely out of practice and my coloring feels stagnant and this is somewhere I definitely need to grow!!
  • create 100 cards
  • participate in Project Life (monthly). This means dedicating time to collecting & printing the pictures and stories that mean something each week so that I have them ready to go at the end of the month (or beginning of the next) when I sit down to put them together.
  • scrapbook a couple layouts a month. I really, really miss this. And my kids really, really love looking through their old albums.
  • Participate in a crop every month. I did pretty well for the bulk of 2018 and it was so much fun to meet people and make friends. And once in a while I got work done too. haha!!

Personal/Blog Challenges: (All challenges are combinable):

“What It’s Worth” Card Challenge – Make at least as many cards as a stamp/set is worth in dollars (rounding up to the next dollar).  Each individual card counts as $1.  So if I buy a stamp for $4, I need to make 4 different cards with it.  If I buy a stamp set for $20, I need to make 20 cards, trying as hard as I can to use each stamp in the set evenly.  I looked at the stamp sets I have and there are some that will make it hard to use every single stamp evenly… but I will try!  The rule: No buying stuff to make these cards.  I have to use what’s already in my stash or leftovers from other projects.

“WERK IT” Card Challenge – Make the most out of sheets of coordinating paper and 6×6 paper pads using OSW tutorials and Paper Pad tutorials (like on OWH), and post progress every month.  Try to do one every three months. That might seem like a lot of spacing out but it takes time and that is something in extra short supply this year!!

Business Goals:

  • maintain retail store. Itʻs up but not updated.
  • maintain locker more regularly.
  • participate in craft fairs/expos. Do at least one every other month.
  • continue teaching papercrafting classes and up enrollment.

Home Goals:

  • clean and purge until there’s more storage than stuff – downsize craft stash, clean out boys room and my bedroom.
  • fix up garden, add to garden and grow things! Hubby worked hard to get it started for us again. Goal is to eventually become more-or-less completely sustainable for home and family.
  • cook 4x a week. Iʻm not home 2 days a week until dinnertime so Iʻm giving myself a break.
  • bake 1x a week.

Personal Goals:

  • work on my fitness!  Get in shape.  Be able to run with my kids.
  • lose 70 lbs.  SERIOUSLY.  I think of it as 20-ish lbs per kid.  haha.
  • spend time with friends/extended family at least 1x a month.

Financial Goals:

  • start saving up for next trip. Goal is to be able to travel internationally every 2 years. Although it looks like traveling domestically is more expensive so we might have to switch it to being able to travel domestically every 2 years haha.
  • put more money towards the end goal. Will be making an appointment with our financial advisor to see what that looks like.

lovies, =o) kel
