Thanks Challenge w/WD

Whimsie Doodles Banner

It’s time for a new monthly challenge over at Whimsie Doodles!!  We will have one lucky winner, who will be drawn at random to win a FREE Whimsie Doodles image of their choice from our latest release.

This month, the theme is “Thanks” and this card is one that I absolutely love!!  I never thought about this pink and black and red (and green!) color combo before… but I think it came together so well!!

I colored her up with my Copics… and I knew I wanted to do her outfit brown and pink… but then I got stuck with what color to make her coffee cozy!!  So I took a chance with red and I’m so glad I did!  Just adorable!!  And I had this sentiment in my stash, how perfect is it for this image and for the challenge?!?

Thanks so much for stopping by… I’m so looking forward to the weather cooling down and getting chilly!  Hope you all stay warm, and see you again soon!!

Pumpkins w/ATCAS

It’s challenge time over at the Addicted to CAS blog! The code word this week is PUMPKINS.

This trio is adorabs. It’s from a clear stamp set by Pretty Cute Stamps and even though I didn’t want more pumpkins and Halloween stamps, I ended up getting the set because you can add whatever face you want on the pumpkins and the sentiments are super cute. I added a strip of washi to this and then a scrap piece of black cardstock that was a little bit longer than the washi strip. I also popped those pumpkins up on some foam tape to make them pop! I think it made a cute Halloweeny card that’s not too Halloweeny. I might even try playing with them again but this time without the faces to make some harvest-ish cards instead!

Hope you come join us! Thanks for stopping by!!

Christmas Thanks w/CCS

Hi Friends!! I’m blogging over at the CutCardstock blog today 🙂 Can you believe it’s only 2 short months until Christmas?!?! Every year I challenge myself to make thank you cards, but always end up buying them because it’s so much easier and faster. Well this year, I’m determined to send out some handmade thank you chards, so am experimenting with some quick and easy designs!!

I started out with some beautifully textured cardstock from the Royal Sundance collection. The beautiful Christmas green color is from their linen textured collection80# Emerald Cardstock. This color is just gorgeous, and I wanted to show you how beautifully textured this paper is!! And it’s SUPER thick and sturdy too!!

I cut my paper in half lengthwise so that I’d have a card with the fold on top. And since I cut the 8.5″x11″ sheet in half, I got two bases out of it so thought I might as well make two cards to see how quick it would be to make a whole bunch of them!

I paired it with some super fun and shiny holly patterned paper, but thought it needed a little oomph. Too much green going on for me!!

So I added a pop of red using the Basis 80# Dark Red Cardstock and thought that worked perfectly as a mat!!

Using that same Basis 80# Dark Red Cardstock, I cut some strips for a sentiment and then heat embossed it. I think my embossing powder might be old (?) because it doesn’t melt really nicely anymore. Something I should look up I guess!!

The last thing I did was fish-tail the strips into banners, and then pop them up on some pop dots across the center of the card. How quick and easy is that?!

de-LIGHT-ful w/WD

Whimsie Doodles Banner

I’m blogging over at Whimsie Doodles today!!  I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this digi because of its versatility.  It’s actually from the Valentines Punnies set on the Valentine page!  And yes, it has a heart filament in the light bulb, but you really can’t tell that it’s a valentines thing, right??  haha!!

This is another one that was super easy to color up because I’m so short on time right now… It’s almost midterms for me in my FINAL semester of undergrad and also we just hit Fall Break/Fall Intersession for my kiddos, so with all THREE of them home, I’m especially short on time!!

But I just love how easy this whole card was to put together!  And the black and white and yellow color scheme is a YAY from me!!  I absolutely love it and will look for more chances to use this color combo without it looking like a bee all the time haha!!

Thanks for stopping by, hope you’re having a wonderful fall!!  See you!!

Rainbow Unicorn w/WD

Whimsie Doodles Banner

I’m blogging over at Whimsie Doodles today!!  This pretty is Unicorns at the top of the What’s New page.  And yes, of course I had to make it rainbow!

And yes, of course I had to make it sparkly!  lol!!  I’m honestly not usually such a fan of unicorns and stuff but I couldn’t help it with this one!  It’s just too cute!!  And I have to say that I chose this digi to use this week because I’m soooooooo busy.  But he (because unless they have some female identifier like bows or lashes, I dub all pretty unicorns he!) was so easy to color up because I left his body white!  Just a little bit of shading and he was good!!

Thanks for stopping by, see you again soon!!

Bright Birthday w/CCS

Hi Friends!! I’m blogging over at the CutCardstock blog today, sharing a card with you today that ended up so different from what I intended!!

I started out with some beautifully bright (but not too bright!) colors from the Pop Tones collection. The colors I ended up using are Sweet ToothBlue RaspberryLemon DropBubble GumSour Apple, Grape Jelly, and Black Licorice (not pictured).

I ran a piece of Sweet Tooth cardstock through my Big Shot in a beautiful embossing floral folder, and I know some of you notice this is not the embossed panel in my finished card. But bear with me, I promise I’ll explain why!

And since I had it out, ran a piece of Black Licorice through with a thinlit that said “happy” in this gorgeous script.

Here’s what they look like together… I almost just stopped there for my card lol!

I cut all the colorful papers into 1/2″ strips. If you remember a few months back, I made a Best Friends card using 1/2″ strips. Same idea here but this time not creating my entire background from strips!

I covered every bit of a scrap piece of cardstock with adhesive from the Honeycomb Dot Adhesive Roller and then stuck down my strips, making sure to cover the whole piece from end to end.

After trimming off the ends, I was able to use the trimmed-off strips to cover the rest of my piece, so ended up really only using one strip of each for this project. WHOOPS I cut too many haha!!

After looking at the colors together, I decided that floral REALLY didn’t match. So this is where my card ended up completely different! To me, it looked like this strip piece needed to be matched with some unicorns and rainbows!! So I dug through my embossing folders and realized I don’t have a embossing folder with clouds on it (which makes me really sad!) but found this trellis one that is kinda close and definitely works until I find a good cloud embossing folder!

I ran my super skinny “happy” diecut through my trusty (dusty!) sticker maker. I did try to dust it off before use, so please pretend you can’t see how dusty it is haha!!

Then I stamped out some matching images. The unicorn I had in mind was WAAAAY too big for the card, but the rainbow and sun worked just fine!!

I had tacked down my strip piece with 3d dots, so needed to be able to tuck the rainbow and sun under the corners… so I just eyeballed it and snipped away!!

See how nicely they tuck in now?

And here’s the finished card, so fun and bright and definitely not floral!!

Watercolor Florals w/ATCAS

It’s challenge time over at the Addicted to CAS blog! The code word this week is:

I used a new-to-me floral stamp from Hero Arts and did some rough watercoloring… it wasn’t until I got into coloring my 2nd flower that I realized I used a scrap piece of cardstock that bled everywhere, so my solution was to just color outside the lines a bit more to cover it up!

Hope you come join us! Thanks for stopping by!!

Halloween Bow w/CCS

Hi Friends!! I’m blogging over at the CutCardstock blog today 🙂 Can you believe it’s almost Halloween? I went to the mall with my kids the other day (something we rarely do) and there was Halloween stuff EVERYWHERE!! So I’m here to share a super different Halloween card… different for me anyway! I usually stick with the cute and fun but was so inspired by this spiderweb punch I picked up at a crafter clearance sale.

I started with a 5″ x 5″ piece of cardstock in Pop Tones Black Licorice and then used this new-to-me spiderweb punch around the page.

You start with the corners and then do the middle after that.

Unfortunately for me, I miscut or something because I ended up with this one wonky corner. But luckily it was just one corner of the entire piece that looked bad, so I had the opportunity to cover it up!!

I then stamped all over a 3.75″ x 3.75″ piece of Pop Tones Sweet Tooth cardstock in black, grey, and pumpkin orange inks to create a subway art-ish background piece. Love how it came out!!

I then figured out where I wanted that wonky corner placed (bottom left corner) and then glued everything down, with my bottom-most layer being a 6″ x 6″ Pop Tones cardstock piece in Orange Fizz.

The last thing I did was to make a fluffy organza bow with this black organza ribbon. I didn’t want to make it SUPER fluffy because I wanted the boy to sit relatively flat on the card.

I added some adhesive cardstock embellishments to cover up the messy center of the bow and then stuck it all down with some extra tacky glue!

Adorable Abby w/WD

Whimsie Doodles Banner

I’m blogging over at Whimsie Doodles today!!  This pretty lady is Adorable Abby at the top of the What’s New page!

So I’ve had this polaroid/sentiment die for a while but never got to use it, but she’s perfect for it!  And shhhhh… this pastel polka-dot background is actually from an Easter pack!!!  But doesn’t it match so perfectly?!?  haha!  Versatility, I love it!!

And baker’s twine… le sigh… my absolute favorite accessory to add to a card!!  A girl can never have enough colors I think!!!  lol!  See you again soon!
