Christmas Card Sunday 11/23

Happy Sunday!!  This week’s Christmas Card Sunday features my absolute favorite wintery icon… a snowman!  With no snow here in Hawaii (at least where I live) it’s fun to play with snowflake and snowman images.  I’m sure those of you who are frozen in the snow don’t necessarily feel the same way as I do about these frosty friends!!

I used a sketch (surprise, surprise!) from The Deconstructed Sketch #2 for this card.  Here’s the sketch:

And my card, featuring another freebie from Whimsie Doodles.

I punched the snowflakes from scrap white cardstock and then stickled them for some bling!  Speaking of which… I’m running low on stickles!  Where do you get yours from or if you use a different brand, what do you use and how do you like it??  Thanks in advance!

Happy Roost! w/DDD

Daydream Designs Store LOGO

Today’s card for Diane’s Daydream Designs features a BIRD.  As previously stated, I HATE BIRDS.  Some super cute digi birds have warmed me up though, so I think I just hate birds in real life.  haha.  No offense to bird lovers out there.  I’m just definitely a cat and dog kind of girl!!

This little chicky is from the Country Chicks Color Set (also available in Outlines).  I love how her body is polka-dotted… like she’s been paper pieced!  I’m also using the Country Morning Digi Papers set and pulled the sentiment from the Home to Roost Composite Set.  Phew that’s a lot of sets for this one card!!  The last thing I added to this card (besides the cardstock) was that beautiful red ribbon… I think it was wrapping on something I bought because I definitely don’t have more of it and I wish I did!!  It’s a nice wide grosgrain in that rich Christmas red color.  Love it!

Happy Saturday!!  To my friends in the states, are you planning anything for Thanksgiving? We usually split our day between J’s parent’s house, and 2 of my aunts’ houses (one my mom’s side, one my dad’s side) for Thanksgiving.  It makes it a long day but we get to see all of our family so that’s nice… and with Baby Z here, I know people are going to want to see him!!

Whale of a Hello!!

Hey all – Just popping in really quick to share a card I made for my Etsy store… yup, I’m going to open an Etsy store!!  I’ve actually had an account with them and a ‘store’ for a few years… what I mean is that I input information to set up the store but never actually did anything with it.  But now being home with Baby Z full time and not working AT ALL, I want to try and pull my weight around here and every little bit helps, right??

Today’s card features products by Pebbles Inc’s Lil’ Buddy line.  How cute is that whale?!?!  I really like how simple this card is and I think it came out wonderfully!!

That’s it for me today… still nursing this cold.  Hoping it’ll go away soon, I don’t want to be sick on Thanksgiving!!  Plus it’s exhausting taking care of myself and the kiddos!!

Beach Day!

Today’s layout (yay for another layout!) comes to us from a PageMaps sketch from August 2012.  I always have issues with white space but this time I think I did okay.

I used paper + stickers from Echo Park’s Splash collection.  I got this in an older kit (2011-ish maybe?) and wish I had known about this company then so I could pick up more of their super cute stuff. This is the dogs’ first beach day – we had them for about 2 months before we could do this.  Peace, being a stray, had to finish up getting her shots so she could be social.  She was taken in off the streets at around 4 months of age so imagine myself or my husband carrying this 30-something-pound puppy around the vet’s office because she wasn’t supposed to touch the floor.  haha.

Picture isn’t awesome… I’ve definitely got shooting cards down in the light box but layouts?  That’s a totally different story and one I’m definitely working on.  Thanks for stopping by today!!  I’m definitely sick so will be trying to lay low for a while but we’ll see how long that lasts!  The tylenol tends to kick in and then I do stuff until I feel sick again and by the end of the day I’m just DONE.  Sometimes it’s not good being such a busybody!!  Wish me well so I get better soon!!!

Happy New Home w/HH

So first off… super sad news.  Due to the new VAT laws that take effect Jan 2015, my dear friend Wendy, the owner of Handmade Harbour, has decided to close her doors at the end of this year.  I am so saddened by the news, but wanted to spread the word that if you were thinking of grabbing any of Handmade Harbour’s super cute digis, to get them before the end of the year while you still can!!!

Handmade Harbour digi stamps

I’m using digi stamp #543 – Happy New Home on this card.  A friend of mine just bought a house across the highway from us so it’s going in the mail to her!!!  I just adore this image… and the tire swing on the tree!!!

Make sure you check out Handmade Harbour!!  I’ll be back posting more HH cards every week through the end of the year to try and spread the word!!

Christmas Card Sunday 11-16

Once again I’m working through the Jillibean Soup 6×6 pad.  I should do a roundup when I finally finish working with this pad to show you all the cards I made!  I’ve got quite a bit more pad to work through though, so it’ll be a little while!

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I talk about it in last week’s CCS post.  The basic idea is to take one 6×6 paper pad + matching card stock and use sketches to create as many cards as possible, working from large PP pieces down to scrap bits and try to use up every bit of paper from that pad so youʻre not left with a whole mess of scraps.

This week I used Mojo Monday Sketch #342… AGAIN.  haha.  I loved last week’s card so much I made more!  And once again I’m using embossed panels… But I didn’t have enough of one design/color so I mixed it up a little bit.  Still VERY happy with this layout!  I definitely think it’s going to be one of my go-to layouts from now on!!

Thanks for stopping by!  I’ll see you again soon because my crafting mojo is BACK!! haha!

Day by the Sea w/DD

I am fortunate to still be on the Dream Team over at Diane’s Daydream Designs.  Diane (and the rest of the team) has been so patient and supportive with me taking my time to come back to the team… especially considering I was asked to join the team, designed for a month, and then dropped off the face of the blogging world for  pretty much the next 9 months!!  So thank you Diane and Dreamers… I am looking forward to finally getting to know everyone and being an active part of the team!!

For this card I used an absolutely gorgeous set… A Day by the Sea Combo Set and paired it with papers from the Country Morning Digi Papers paper pack… the paper pack was made to match the Country Chicks ensemble which are all chickens… so totally not made for a breezy beach image!!  But don’t you think they match perfectly anyway?!?  And the ribbon was actually saved from my birthday present… It was actually just laying around because I hadn’t gotten around to putting it away and caught my eye as I was finishing this card!!  I knew I put off cleaning that up for a reason… and now I don’t have to!!  haha.  I love when things work out like this!

Thanks for stopping by… hope your weekend is going great!  We have a birthday-filled weekend and I will be away from the computer but I do have another Christmas card scheduled for tomorrow!!

Love you!

This is the first person I have colored since my ‘return’ to crafting.  haha.  Not too bad but not great.  I even bought that skin & hair class at Kit & Clowder but haven’t really started it yet because I don’t have all the Copics I need… I’m one that wants the ‘right’ colors so I can match it up with the example.  Yes, I think it’s already been established that I’m a little crazy!  But I promise my coloring will get better!!

This time I’m using a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #48.  Here’s the sketch:

This cutie is a freebie over at Whimsie Doodles… One of many in fact!  I know most people are posting fall/Christmas cards but I tend to get tired of those after a while and need something a little different to mix it up!  (see ‘crazy’ above!) lol.  Once again I’m using super old paper (from 2008!!) on this card!  Cloud 9 Designs… are they still around? I loved their stuff!

Thanks for stopping by.  I’m totally rocking this new crafting system I set up for efficiency and productivity (see here).  I have been having so much fun crafting again, I hope it shows!

Scrap It Thursday – 11/13

My kiddos love looking through their old pictures and going through what little they have in their scrapbooks.  One of my goals this year was to scrap more frequently and so I started doing layouts every Thursday. And then with everything else, regardless of my intentions, I fell behind.  But I did manage to do a layout this week!!  And yay me I even pulled some super old KI Memories paper from my stash!!

This one features Little A drying off his Star boy right after a bath.  And yes, these pictures are from March 2013!!!  Look how small Star was!!!  A close-up of the left page, plus this cute digi I bought from Bugaboo Stamps that matched perfectly with these pups!!

And a close-up of the right page with this dog bone embellishment I got when I started scrapbooking in 2004-ish!!

Haha.  Love that kid and love these pups.  Thanks for swinging by!

Halloween (not too late!)

Last year I got to participate in so many progressive challenges… and then I got sick.  haha.  A bunch of them arenʻt around anymore but I ʻfoundʻ this one again at ChiChi Memories with one big change… itʻs a limited freebie, meaning only the first so many (50 in this case) people to download get it for free.  Luckily they allow you to play along their challenge with any image but give you bonus for using a CCM digi.

I was way too late for Octoberʻs freebie but still wanted to participate in their October challenge.  I got this dude, ʻHalloweenʻ last year during one of their monthly challenges and decided to use him.  Yes, I know itʻs a bit late for Halloween projects, but hey, if people can do Christmas after Christmas is over, why not Halloween?  haha.  If anything I’ll just be more prepared for next year.  =o)

This month was a sketch challenge, hereʻs the sketch:

Lynda Sketch_(October 2014)

and hereʻs my take on it.

Iʻve been LOVING sketches recently – I have very limited blocks of crafting time with Baby Z so I had to find a new system that works for me.  I canʻt just sit for hours and craft at whim anymore!  I found that with a baby in one arm, I can sit down with a list of projects to make and print images for them/pull stamps.  I can even  match them up with sketches and make kits by matching the images with paper + cardstock and put them aside in little baggies.  The planning part takes a bit of time but I like that I can do it away from the craft room in spurts with a baby in one arm!!  Then when I get bigger blocks of time without Baby Z, I sit down and craft… and I found that I can even do it with him laying across my lap during those times he just doesn’t want to be put down.  I am a total busybody and need to be constantly doing something so I feel like it makes me much more efficient, and every bit helps with 3 kiddos underfoot!!
