Wheels w/ATCAS

It’s challenge time over at the Addicted to CAS blog! I’m hosting this week and the code word I picked is WHEELS.

Once again, I pulled out a stamp set I haven’t ever inked up, and I don’t know why it took me so long to do so! This is Lawn Fawn – Happy Trails. And of course, I chose this theme for Baby Z because of his obsession with anything with wheels! He even told me what colors those cars needed to be colored and I think he picked really well haha =o)

Hope you come join us! Thanks for stopping by!!

Congrats w/CCS

I’m blogging over at the CutCardstock blog today! First off, let me apologize so greatly for the pictures! I’m experimenting with my camera rig and this is definitely NOT a winner. Oh well, live and learn!! I promise I’ll figure it out for next time!

This was a really simple card to make but it looks so pretty because of the shimmery paper! Today’s card is made using some gold Stardream Metallic 65# cardstock and a couple pieces of Basis white 80# cardstock. So easy to put together!! I started by cutting my sheet of gold Stardream Metallic 65# cardstock in half to make a top-folding card.

I knew I wanted to put a piece of white cardstock inside the card to make it easier to write on – not every pen takes nicely to shimmery paper so I wanted to make it easier for whoever got this card to write inside!!

Then I took some matching yellow ink and a pretty circle stamp set and just stamped over the bottom of the card, making sure to go off the edges a little bit.

Then I took my sentiment and stamped it in a nice, bold black just above the circles.

The last thing I added was some matching black and white baker’s twine to the top of the card…

… and then finished it off with a nice bow before sticking the white cardstock piece to the card front.

And this is another view of the card, trying to show off the shimmer. So pretty, and such a simple thing to put together!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Make sure to stay up to date with the latest news and sales on the CutCardstock Facebook Page!!

Summer w/ATCAS

I’m so fortunate to join the team at Addicted to CAS! Thankful to the team for having me, and I look forward to creating with them!!

It’s challenge time over at the Addicted to CAS blog! The code word this week is SUMMER.

I absolutely loved making this card. I couldn’t actually find my watercolors, so did the next best thing… watercolored with Distress inks! So much fun. And adding that strip of washi at the bottom just makes the card pop I think!! Super happy with how it came out. And I made myself pull out some stamps I haven’t ever inked up too… This is from the Paper Smooches set – Summer Lovin’. I colored that little guy up with my Copics and popped him on there with some foam tape.

Hope you come join us! Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Birthday Kylie!! (blog hop)

Happiest of Happy Birthdays to Kylie!! In her honor, we’re having a birthday blog hop!!

This is my birthday card to her, and I have to say that even though I’m on her ATCAS team, I had no intention of making this card clean and simple!! I was going to use fun patterns and a few more layers, but then I had this baker’s twine that I had knotted and tied into a bow on a different card… but it just didn’t work. And because I’m cheap, I didn’t want to throw it away and ended up sliding it off the old card and onto a blank card. And then the idea struck and I ended up with this!! And how cute is that chick from Paper Smooches? So much fun (and so simple!) to color up with my Copics.

So Happy Birthday Kylie! It’s an honor to join your team and I’m looking forward to the year ahead and getting to know you and the rest of the team!

And thank you, my friends, for stopping by. You’re almost at the end of the hop, and will hop on to Susan’s blog next. Or if you’re just joining us, you can start at the beginning and see what everyone else has made!

Diving Leah w/WD

Whimsie Doodles Banner

I’m blogging over at Whimsie Doodles today!!  And I have to say, I’m totally, completely in LURRRRVE with this card!  The colors!!  So not something I would normally use, but it just works and I like it… I like it a lot!!

This sweetie is Diving Leah towards the bottom half of the People Digi’s page.  I colored her up with my Copics and then popped her up on some pop-dots.  This paper that I used for her background has these waves in these different patterns and I had no clue how to use it so it’s been sitting on my shelf for a couple years (like most of my paper lol!) and then I finally decided to cut into it because the colors matched so well.  And I’m so happy I did!  Love how it came out!!

Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again soon!

Flowery Friend

Hi Friends!! I’m blogging over at the CutCardstock blog today! 🙂 This was another really fun card to make because I got my fingers inky AND I got to break out the heat gun, which I rarely get to do these days!!

Today’s card is made using some beautifully bright colors from the Pop Tones Cardstock line and the Basis Cardstock line.

I started with a scrap piece of 65# Pop Tones in Sweet Tooth White and used a pretty flower stamp and my Versamark ink pad to stamp all over the piece.

Then I used some clear embossing powder and sprinkled it all over.  Okay, it came out as a pour, not so much a sprinkle.

Then I used a clean, stiff, but small bristled brush to dust off as much excess embossing powder as I could.

And then used the heat gun to melt it all together. Doing this allows me to create a resist background to color all over!!

Then I used my distress inks and blender tools to color up the background.

It came out so pretty! I matted it on more 65# Pop Tones in Sweet Tooth White and then 65# Lemon Drop Yellow cardstocks.

I paired it with an orange base from the Basis Cardstock line, some 80# Basis Orange cardstock.

The last thing I did was add some yellow twine and tie a bow, and then stamp on (and emboss again, yay!) the sentiment. I wanted something bold and fun, but definitely something that matched the flowers in the background.

And just because it’s so amazing to watch, here’s a short clip of the embossing powder melting!

And the finished card. So happy, just love how it came out!

And that baker’s twine bow was just the perfect little addition to the card to finish it off!  Just love it!!

Thanks for stopping by!!  Hope to see you again soon!

Best Friends w/CCS

Hi Friends!! I’m blogging over at the CutCardstock.com blog!!

This was a SUPER FUN card to make!!! I saw a Jennifer McGuire post the other week about using up cardstock strips to make card backgrounds and thought this would be perfect to try! I simplified mine, of course, but it was super easy to put together and used so little of the Pop Tones Cardstock that I can make tons more!!

I started by cutting down some scrap Pop Tones Cardstock into 1/2″ strips. For this card, I used Berrylicious, Blue Raspberry, and Black Licorice. I also pulled a scrap piece of paper (can be whatever you have on hand because it all gets covered up, front and back!) and cut it down to 4″ x 5.25″.

I cut a piece of Whip Cream Pop Tones Cardstock to 3.75″ x 4.5″ and then traced it on one side of the card. I used pencil here because I didn’t want to accidentally mark up the Whip Cream piece.

But as you can see, I then used pen to roughly go over it… it’s on the backside of the card so it doesn’t really matter how perfect your lines are. Just make sure that the pen you choose doesn’t bleed through *just in case*.

I used the Honeycomb Dot Adhesive roller and put adhesive all over my card and then started laying down the strips!

It doesn’t matter what order you go in, just make sure that you cover all the edges! I chose to go Blue Raspberry, then Black Licorice, then Berrylicious, and then start that pattern all over! Make sure to trim your pieces off as you go to save some strips!

And this is where the $$ saver comes in!  The reason we traced over the back with pen is to see how much of the actual card front was going to be covered. Because if you’re just covering it up with something else, no sense waste pretty colors behind it where no one can see!! Use the light to see how much you actually need to cover and save the rest!!

And because you’re lining up your pieces snug against each other, it should really be a piece of cake to make sure it all lines up at the end! But when you’re putting your pieces down, make sure to go a little over the line just in case you trace crooked lol!

Next I stamped my sentiment using so pretty (and matching!) Distress Inks. I’m new to stamping with Distress Inks, so this was super fun for me!! Unfortunately, one of my cubes is leaking (or something!) so I unknowingly got ink on my finger and left that smudge on the top left as I slid my magnet off my card.  BOO people, I can’t say that enough.  BOO.

And then when I stamped the rest of the sentiment, I managed to make another smudge. Apparently I’m all about the ink smudges today!! So once again I say BOO.  BOOOOOOO!!!!! haha!

But that’s okay!! And I really want to share that it’s okay to make mistakes! You don’t even have to throw it out or start all over sometimes! My fix: stick a cardstock banner/strip over the smudges and make it look like you MEANT for the card to come out like this!!  haha!!

Mistakes are totally fixable. And make for some pretty cute cards in the end lol!!  The great thing is that I have so much leftover strips that I can make a few more!! For the record, I cut 8 strips that were 4.25″ long and have FIVE of each color leftover + some scrap pieces big enough to use, and that includes the two black banners/strips. That means I used less than 3 strips of each color to make the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Make sure to pop on over to the CutCardstock blog to see what else the DT has been up to and stay up to date with the latest news and sales on the CutCardstock Facebook Page!!

Josh Watermelon w/CSD

Inspirational Blog

I’m blogging over at the Crafty Sentiments Designs Inspirational Blog today!  This adorable little lad is Josh – Watermelon and he is just perfect for the start to our summer!  And he makes me so excited to start summer!  Little A just finished on Friday, so our family is officially on summer break!

He was a lot of fun to color up with my Copics – I really enjoyed coloring up his bricks!  And that watermelon… we just had to dump a whole bunch of watermelon because I waited too long to cut it and it got overripe and kinda mushy… so sad!!  But at least he gets to enjoy it!!

Thanks for stopping by and see you again soon!
