Here’s the rest of the baby boy cards as promised! Super simple and super cute (well, at least I think so!)
CS by American Crafts (rocky road), everything else by Pebbles Inc. (New Arrival) Enjoy, and see you soon!! lovies, =o) kel It’s a technique week with Challenge #98 over at Hiding in My Craft Room. The challenge technique this week (yay for rhyming!!) is “Faux Linen.” My first though? ’WTH is faux linen? Like fake fabric??’ haha. And yeah, that’s pretty much it… using sandpaper to create a linen appearance. YES, I pulled off 2 distressed cards in 2 weeks!! And YES, it’s Halloween. I could totally do Halloween all year round!! Christmas, as much as I love it, gets overwhelming and old and I am glad that it goes away so I can anticipate it coming again ONCE a year.
and a closeup of the linen background:
PP by Making Memories, CS by American Crafts (tan) If you need a tutorial for how to do faux linen, I got mine from Splitcoaststampers… here’s the link to the tut I used. Hope you guys can play along this week. lovies, =o) kel Hey all - I’m assisting a friend of mine with relaunching her blog, the Kitty Bee Designs Blog and implementing a new Aloha Friday Challenge starting June 7th. There’s still a bit to tweak and twerk before we get there, (and a bit more to tweak and twerk before we put out a Design Team call!) so until then, I’m sharing some Aloha Friday Inspiration to get us in the mood for these upcoming challenges!! Hop on over and join us at the KBD Blog… bookmark us and remember to come back for our first challenge!! lovies, =o) kel This week over at Stamp ‘n’ Doodle, the challenge is “anything goes”… super easy and I hope everyone can join in!! I have been into watching anime again in a BIG way, so when I saw this image I knew I wanted to play with it. His name is Pauly, Cool Pauly to be exact!! PP by Pebbles Inc., CS by American Crafts (dark kraft), Image by Stamp ‘n’ Doodle, Sentiment by Doodlefactory Hope you can play along this week, I look forward to seeing what you create!! lovies, =o) kel Challenge #2 over at Crafting with Dragonflies is to make a layout about a mother. It can be anything about mom/mother’s day. We don’t really do a big or traditional mother’s day in this house, so I don’t really have pictures to scrap about it. My mom hates being in front of the camera more than I do so scrapping pictures about either of us as mothers is hard to do too!! So my take on this challenge was to reflect on being a mother. I am so blessed to have two wonderful kids and regardless of how much these brothers fight, I couldn’t ask for more. I am just so very happy to have such a loving family and grateful that we are able to be together every day. PP by Studio Calico (Snippets), CS (dark kraft, lagoon, white, sunflower) & Thickers by American Crafts, “A&A” Stickers by Pebbles Inc (New Arrival), Frame (AKV Sign it 2 boys) by Bugaboo Stamps Once again, I dug through the boxes of pictures and found these from 2009. YIKES. And how cute is that frame? We are sponsored over at Crafting with Dragonflies this week by one of my FAVE stamp companies, Bugaboo, and I was fortunate enough to be able to play with this image, AKV Sign it 2 boys.
I also have some hidden journaling behind the “A&A” block. It is just some personal notes I want my kids to know right now.
Thanks for stopping by, and extra special thanks to Bugaboo for sponsoring us over at Crafting with Dragonflies, and for letting me play with this super cute frame. Hope you come join us!! lovies, =o) kel The challenge this fortnight over at Kreative Stempelfreunde is a sketch challenge. Here’s the sketch:
And here’s my take on it. Much simpler and a lot less “fancy” but I’m happy with my take on this sketch. I actually found a stack of these images – It’s a branch from a Japanese cherry blossom tree, called 桜 (sakura) in Japanese. They were extras from a bunch of favors I made for my Nana’s 80-something-th birthday a few years back. I found them bundled with scraps of the floral PP (horizontal), and then remembered that I had a sheet of the vertical PP… and they totally matched. How awesome is that?? I’m so glad I thought in advance to pair the images with PP when I came across it all those years back. I just wish I knew who made the floral PP… I would’ve totally bought more.
PP by Basic Grey (vertical), CS by American Crafts (salmon, bayou, bubbles), punch by EK Success Hope you can join us over at Kreative Stempelfreunde… Or at least take the sketch for your sketch collection! I know you have one!!! lovies, =o) kel This week over at Hiding in My Craft Room, is to use your scraps… it’s Super Scraps Saturday!! All you gotta do to play along this week is pull out your scraps and make something! Seeing that it’s the end of the school year – my kids finish on May 24th… just 2 weeks away, yay!!! Anywhoo, since it’s the end of the school year, I’m in a “teacher gift” kind of mode… There are so many people at the school who make learning fun and good for my kids. I am so appreciative of them, and want to show them that although we aren’t super actively supportive parents, we do appreciate everything they do. For this card, the paper came with the bottom scallop border already attached – all I did was cut the apple paper to size and then cut off the extra border piece and adhere it to the top of the card. It would have been nice for the scallops to line up, but oh well. Even the thickers are from what’s leftover from my unfinished Disney album. I’m almost done with that album, btw… I just need to add the finishing touches and put it in a new album – the bottom D-ring doesn’t close all the way and the page slips off the ring as you turn the pages.
PP by Sassafrass, Thickers & CS (crimson) by American Crafts, Image by CC Designs Does anyone have teacher gifts planned? Once again I am off to browse pinterest for cheap and easy ideas… and probably wander off to something completely non-related and completely time-wasting!! lol!! Hope to see you over at HIMCR! lovies, =o) kel It seems like a lot of people I know are having kids, so I decided to stock up. In recent years, most of the babies have been boys, so my stash of baby boy cards has dwindled a bit. I got these done quickly… but once again I deal with crooked sentiments. ughh!! I probably shouldn’t make cards so late at night when I’m so tired my eyes are going cross. haha.
CS by American Crafts (rocky road, white), punch by EK Success, everything else by Pebbles Inc. (New Arrival) I try to use up every bit of paper so I don’t have to add to my scrap folders so I have a couple more to share soon!! lovies, =o) kel This week’s challenge over at Stamp ‘n’ Doodle is “Distressed.” This is DEFINITELY not something I do very often, so the amount of distressing I did on this card was minimal compared to some people… I googled distressed cards and some of the cards that came up were absolutely gorgeous and completely amazing!! I don’t think this card came out too bad though so maybe this is something I will try again!!
PP by Pebbles Inc, CS by American Crafts (chocolate), image by Stamp ‘n’ Doodle (pouting) Hope you can join us… this month I have two DT assigned challenges that challenged me to do something COMPLETELY out of my comfort zone so if I can do it, you can too!! lovies, =o) kel Since I wasn’t able to submit my card in time to make it onto the challenge post this past Saturday (thanks again for being so understanding, Laurie!!), I wanted to pop in and give some mid-week inspiration! The challenge over at Hiding in My Craft Room is to choose your own colors… meaning use whatever you want, just make sure to say what colors you used!! I’m allllllll about summer + BREAK so that’s what inspired this card. My colors are “Green, Blue, Orange.”
PP & CS by American Crafts, Image/Buttons unknown Still a few days to join in… hope to see you there!! lovies, =o) kel |
